AACCPTA Scholarship School Year 2022-2023

Dear Student Applicant:

The Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs is pleased to announce its new scholarship program that will replace the Kenneth Lawson and Phoebe Apperson Scholarship Awards. AACCPTA Future Leaders Scholarship program will provide a one-time $5,000 financial award to honor students who demonstrate academic success and have shown leadership in their school community. This award is to be used by the student toward tuition, books, room and board, and other associated materials at the institution of their choice (including community college, four-year college or university, private trade, and technical institution). This award is offered as a one-time non-renewable scholarship, funds will be sent directly to the institution.

Winner #1

The Phoebe Apperson Hearst Scholarship is awarded in honor of Mrs. Apperson-Hearst who was one of the Founding members of PTA. Her mission along with PTA's mission was to better the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Today this scholarship is presented to students who exhibit the PTA’s core values of being productive learners and citizens, with skills in leadership, participation and involvement. It is with great pleasure that we present Jack Gress from Arundel High School as our 2021-2022 recipient. Through his hard work and determination, Jack has proven to be a student that deserves AACCPTA's recognition and encouragement to continue his educational efforts. Jack will be attending Elizabethtown College this fall, where he plans to major in Business. Congratulations Jack!

The Kenneth Lawson Scholarship is awarded in honor of Mr. Lawson a Severna Park High graduate who rose from teacher to deputy superintendent of Anne Arundel County Schools Systems during a career that spanned over 36 years. The Kenneth Lawson Scholarship is awarded to the high school graduate who is planning to pursue a career in the field of education. It is with great pleasure that we present Jackson Bromwell from Old Mill High School as our 2021-2022 recipient. Through his hard work and determination, Jackson has proven to be a student that deserves AACCPTA's recognition and encouragement to continue his educational efforts. Jackson will be attending Towson University this fall, where he plans to major in physical education with the hopes of becoming a PE Teacher and eventually an athletic director. Congratulations Jackson!
