Upcoming Events

AACCPTAs hosted our Fall General Membership Meeting and Leadership Training on Saturday, October 1, 2016. We had over 40 PTA leaders present. We passed our Budget and trained new Presidents and Treasurers. We heard an inspirational keynote speaker, Mr. Oscar Alvaranga, MoCo PTA President of the Year, talk to us about "Intentional Inclusion" within our school communities. Mr. Alvarenga really inspired me that morning. I have not been able to let go of his message. Mr. Alvarenga along with other PTA leaders at his school worked very hard to make their PTA inclusive. With that end in mind, he has grown PTA active participation tremendously. He now gathers around 75 parents each month at their meetings and through this effort his school has seen marked increases in student achievement in ALL student groups. WOW!

The Council is launching a CHALLENGE to all of our PTAs today!!!! The Intentional Inclusion CHALLENGE! Between now and April 1, 2017 we would like to challenge your PTA to step out of your comfort zone, to try something new, to think outside the box.

Does your PTA leadership and membership reflect your whole school community? The Council is challenging all PTAs to tackle 3 new initiatives that reach out to underrepresented segments of your population.

Some ideas include:

  • Work the Room: Greet parents one on one at school events and personally encourage their involvement
  • ALL Hands on Deck: Determine if there is a particular parent group that is less active and create a targeted outreach effort
  • Bring your "A" Game: Survey all parents about their talents and find ways to put those with special skills/resources to work.

Document your efforts with newsletter articles, photos, social media posts and send them to by April 1, 2017.

One PTA will earn $200 towards a celebration for your school.
